Okay, so you're saying that if we buy four X1s with the upgraded RAM plus a W520 (or whatever), we could get a 32GB W520 for only $1800 more than the price of the four X1s and the W520. I guess that could work for some situations.

The USA W520 page is still listing just 4GB parts, as is Lenovo's upgrades/accessories page.

But it does seem interesting that they can offer that as a $450 upgrade. Currently the best source I'm seeing for 8GB DIMMs is from OWC, selling a 16GB kit (8GBx2) aimed at Mac users for $1499, or about $250 more per module than Lenovo's inferred pricing.

Can you post a FRU# for the 8GB part?

Reminds me of the time(1994) when I purchased a gargantuan 16M (yes, MEG) memory stick for the 'bargain' price of $618. This, plus the 4M stock stick, got me FLYING with a total of 20Meg...
