W700 compatibility with a slice battery ?

#1 Post by AMATX » Tue Jun 07, 2011 3:55 pm

I'm wondering if the Lenovo slice battery might work with a W700.

While the W700 is not listed amongst the supported laptops, it doesn't say it won't work. Since the slice came out after the W700/W701 line was discontinued, I can see a tiny sliver of hope here.

Anyone know one way or the other, or have availability of the bits and pieces to give it a try??

Don't know the answer to your question, but if you can't find an answer the regular 9 cell for a W700 is very close in capacity to the 9 cell slice.

85Wh vs. 94Wh.

Thanks for the pointer. However, I was looking for a 2nd additional battery source, not a straight replacement. To replace the current battery, I'd have to either power down, hibernate or be plugged in, so as to not lose juice and blow up. My impression is that the slice would allow that.

Back when I used to run A22p/A31p laptops, IBM(pre-Lenovo) made ultrabay batteries, which were a live, swappable solution. I guess the slice has replaced the ultrabay battery for this kind of function.
