Every hour or so, my brand new W520 (W7 64, 16GB RAM, 240GB OCZ Vertex3) simply freezes. The hard drive light is a solid green (doesn't flicker at all), and the system is completely unresponsive. Sometimes this resolves itself after 1-2 minutes, but more often than not I have to hit the power button and restart the system. Checking the Event Log, the error message that keeps popping up is "The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period"
It appears this is somehow related to Intel's Matrix Storage Technology (I am using the latest driver 10.1.0.1008 and also just updated my BIOS). Has anyone here experienced the same problems (judging by a quick Google search, this problem seems to be fairly widespread and certainly not specific to W520)? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
rch

This looks like an easy one to try at least...

Disabling Link Power Management (LPM) might help, can always re-enable if it doesn't

Thanks, just did that. I'll let you know how things went in a few days.

Nother user just posted this... seems like the same issue, dunno if OCZ has an updated firmware though...

Re: The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the
The LPM fix did not solve the issue. Even with the latest firmware 2.09 on the V3, drive continues to stutter. Switched backed to MSAHCI driver instead of IRST seems to work for me.
