Corsair Force GT 120 or OCZ Vertex 3 MIOPS 120GB SSD?
Corsair Force GT 120 or OCZ Vertex 3 MIOPS 120GB SSD?
I am considering the above for my W510, which one would you choose?
OCZ with their new Sandforce problems, but the Force GT doesn't seem to have these problems?
Are they both similar in hardware as i can see that they both can achieve 85,000 IOPS?

I'd take the OCZ, just because of the fact that it's a 34 nm drive and so is a.) bigger and b.) will last longer (since I'll assume you are going to toss this in another computer 8 years down the road).
I think they've resolved the controller problems and the problem that the drives were thicker than 9.5mm.

None of the current SSDs are using 34nm NAND chips anymore. The fabs stopped making them months ago. There is a slight loss in performance but any loss in life is negligible. By the time an SSD dies (outside of warranty) you'll be able to get one that is 5x the size for less than you paid today.Q-Ball wrote:I'd take the OCZ, just because of the fact that it's a 34 nm drive and so is a.) bigger and b.) will last longer (since I'll assume you are going to toss this in another computer 8 years down the road).

Re: Corsair Force GT 120 or OCZ Vertex 3 MIOPS 120GB SSD?
As for the OCZ drive, look at this (http://thessdreview.com/our-reviews/ocz ... -protocol/). So while the ordinary Vertex 3 is a 25 nm drive the MAX IOPS version uses 34 nm chips.
That's why it's called the MAX IOPS, by the way- since that performance drop when using 25 nm flash isn't present.
(It's also why it's quite a bit more expensive.)

To add perspective, here's something that compares the OCZ V 3 M IOPS with Patriot Wildfire.

Says performance is same.
