W520 with 90W Ultraslim AC ?

#1 Post by ComputerMinder » Sat Jul 30, 2011 4:02 pm

Hi.

I have this 90W Ultraslim AC which I use with my X200s :

I am going to buy a W520 and would like to know if my 90W Ultraslim AC would be sufficient to at least power the W520 with normal usage (just office and stuff).

I don't expect or need the Ultraslim 90W to charge the battery. I will be satisified if it would just keep the W520 running while on the road. I am afraid though the 90W AC may heat up or burn out.

When I get home I can use the 170W for charging anyway.

Thanks

The W520 power connection is keyed so the A/C D/C adapter will not work. You could plug in the W520 adapter to an inverter.

The 170W adapter for the W520 only fits into the W520, but the 60W/90W thinkpad ac adapters fit into the W520.

Any ac adapter with <=90W can only be used to change the W520 while it is off/hibernated/standby.
