Yes, in a T or W520 or an X220.

Could anyone please tell me, is msata available for all w520, or are there different models depending on the country (australia)?

The rep insisted on the phone today that there was no msata drive in the w520! Also on PSREF document from the lenovo website it lists "mSATA™ SSD = None".

Thanks.

I could not speak for all W520s that might ever be created anywhere/anywhen, but I bought mine back in March before Lenovo even listed the mSATA SSDs on their ordering page or in the service manual and it has had no problem with the 80GB Intel mSATA SSD I bought retail. (If I didn't already have two of these things and only one slot, I would try the 120GB SandForce one from Renice instead. I can always use more space.)

Where would one install the MSATA?
Is it the slot for the WWAN card?

Yes. The Hardware Maintenance Manual now includes instructions for this beginning on PDF page 83 (labeled 75).

While:
  • Getting extra SSD storage, in my case 120GB extra
  • SIM card can be moved to ThinkPad Tablet and connect W520 to UMTS via ThinkPad Tablet portable hotspot
