W500 Line Out

All of the W500 datasheets, etc. call the green 1/8" connector a headphone/line out port. Anyone know if it can be a true line out (fixed level like on the dock)? If so - how?

I see no such capability in the sound dialogs or control panels in the W700 under Vista, and that should be the same as the W500. I've got the same green and red audio ports.
