hello everyone, i got a ThinkPad W510 and somehow i managed to cut off the adapter's cord ...
i wanna buy a new one online but i noticed there is 2 types a '45N0054' just like mine ranging from 80~120$ and '55Y9317' which is half the price and according to the specs they r all the same 135w/20V, input 100~240V, 2.0A, 50~60Hz, output 20V, 6.75A ... my question is: what is the catch? if they r both the same why is one half the price of the other ... it may not sound like much like 40$ more but i don't wanna end up with the wrong adapter with the cost of shipping and currency conversion it does cost me alot of money :S

Edit: the one half the price on ebay is a 'compatible adapter' not made by Lenovo my bad ... anyone know if its any good?? or if its possible to just replace the cable? i can't find any at Lenovo's partner in Egypt

If it's the cable on the adapter itself, then it's hard to reconnect it if you don't have much experience.

55Y9317 is NOT genuine Lenovo product, and it's better NOT buy such an adapter as it may cause unpredictable harm to your laptop.

I've had no problem with clone adapters from Ebay. I've used them repeatedly over the last 10 years.

On the other hand - I've found that once an adapter model has been on the market for 6 months, I can generally get authentic adapters from Lenovo outlet or Ebay for 1/2 price.

As always - anything not from lenovo means you take your chances.
