Windows 7 upgrade from 32 to 64bit media

#1 Post by atomz4peace » Thu Sep 15, 2011 10:20 am

I have a T500 with the Lenovo media for Win7 Pro which says only 32 bit. Is there any way to get the 64 bit media from Lenovo (or anyone else) without buying the full OS from M$? I already have my license key, but not sure if that's the same for 64 as 32 bit.

Any idea if Lenovo can give me media for 64 bit?

Thanks!
Jim

I believe Lenovo support will provide the recovery media for around $45.

You may also post a Looking For ad in the forum marketplace.

Alternately, you can download the OS from Microsoft and use your COA license key, then run all the Lenovo (and Microsoft) updates. This won't give you the recovery partition, but it's free.

As an FYI, Recovery Media from more recent machines will work fine on the T500, too (i.e., T410, T510, etc.)
