Sticking TrackPoint

#1 Post by Q-Ball » Mon Sep 19, 2011 3:18 am

So I've set the UltraNav to use 'Smooth' (i.e. doesn't over-ride the Windows 7 default scrolling cursors).

But, for some reason, the TrackPoint seems to 'stick' when moving the cursor a bit up or down from pressing the middle scroll button.

It doesn't seem to matter what I select for sensitivity- moving the selector towards 'Light touch' makes the cursor move faster but doesn't eliminate the problem.

It does this in both 'Smooth' and 'Standard' modes, though it isn't as noticable with Standard due to the lack of a cursor.

It will do this from start to finish- as long as you're scrolling the cursor will stick, break free, stick again- a few times per second.

Oddly enough, it doesn't seem to be as much of a problem just with fine movements- it's just scrolling that does it.

To my knowledge, all software is up to date.

I've removed some dirt from inside the 'well' of the TrackPoint- though the problem still persists.

I don't believe it's an issue of resting parts of the hand on the touchpad- since it does it whether or not my hands are in contact with it (or even near it).

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

If I need to buy a new keyboard to fix this, so be it- this board isn't exactly the most reliable since being cleaned as the Fn key actuates multiple keys when you strike it (as stated in a previous message).

Just say no to the ThinkBook Pro.
