R601 windows 10 Bluethoot and hotkey drivers

#1 Post by Phil83 » Sun Jun 04, 2023 9:25 am

I have installed win10pro on my R60 with R61 mainboard inside; unfortunately I'm not able to find out a way to install bluethoot driver and hotkey for win10.

I would like to have pushbutton for audio switch off available again as well as fn+F5 wireless control.

thanks in advance

best regards

Phil

Try to get Hotkey Features Version 3.21 and Vcredist32 installed, that should get the Fn-F5 working.

Fn+F5 looks working.

now the issue is the audio disable button (up/down work), it doesn't work with win10...

OK. I would try next to install all the Vcredists and net framework redists, then uninstall and reinstall hotkey features.

Last time I tried win 10 (coincidentally, also on R61) I gave up and went back to 7 ultimate. In my case it was the difficulty of getting power manager / vantage to work. I got Win10 working quite nice on an R500 many years ago but I think newer versions of 10 are so picky with drivers, I consider it next to impossible to finish the job. And 10's background tasks installing candy crush and forced updates fighting me for limited bandwidth, and PuP scanning my own files is enraging.

I was able to find a good driver and audio is working good now. However the audio switch on/OFF button has still issues.

the fn+F5 stop working again, I have found ther is an issue with the OSD service looking in services.msc; the service is not started and if I try to strat it manually it fails with popoup : Error 1068 (the dependency service or group failed)

I tried to remove and install again thinkpad hotkey features but with no success. the exe file works but the service cannot start and i don't understand the reason

Good job. I feel more confident now that I can get Windows 10 to work well enough on a classic Thinkpad, so I can remain productive after Firefox stops supporting 7.

Back in 2016 or so I was good at setting up GM45 chipset with Conexant audio fully working with Windows 10. I never tried it in older hardware. Then I stopped using the OS for 7 years. Only now have I started again using Windows 10 Pro because I appreciate Microsoft giving me it for free, I want EFI boot and TB3 support, and my P71 doesn't work properly with 7. I tried Windows 11 on R61 but it got hung on updates so I abandoned that.

Right now the oldest machine I have running 10 is a W530. I nuke the update services in the registry, bring back the Photo Viewer, disable fast startup, and disable all animations, this massively improves usability. Everything except the touchpad works because I force installed the P71's Trackpoint driver to get back "Use As Middle Click" (haven't looked for a better driver yet because I don't use the touchpad). Hotkeys, On Screen Display, and Lenovo Auto Scroll are working perfectly (I don't remember with what driver), even though the W530 has been 7 row swapped. Commercial Vantage also works perfectly.
