Dead R51
Hi,
So I just bought this R51 for next to nothing and guess what... it won’t turn on.
I took away battery, optical drive, hard drive, RAM expansion and still nothing.
The power supply looks good though, 16V on my multimeter.
So I guess I should have a look at the fuses?
Could someone point me to a picture or schema of the motherboard so would I know where to look?
TIA
Sergio

Re: Dead R51
As I see it there is only 1 fuse that can cause a completely dead r51 and
that is the fuse sitting very close to the dc in jack.

Re: Dead R51
It might look like the one linked to but smd fuses comes in a verity of colors and shapes.
Try a google search for smd fuse picture

Re: Dead R51
You can download R51 schematics for free here.
The fuse F2 is a 429007 or 0429007, which is a 7A/24V/Fast fuse.
You'll find it very close the the DC-in socket connector and next to it should be marked F2.
If that indeed is blown, it's easiest to just carefully solder a new one on top of the old one.
