I Found A Z61t With A Working Battery

#1 Post by TPFanatic » Sat Oct 11, 2025 9:19 pm

Lo and behold, it's somehow still alive after 19 years and 869 cycles.

Laptop seems to work alright running W7 Ult x32 on the T2300, 2GB RAM, and 500GB HDD it came to me with. All I've done is install W7 (seller had W10 on it) and flash a modified BIOS and type "slmgr -ilc" and "slmgr -ipk" in cmd, hehe. The LCD is the Hydis HT141WX1-102 at incredible 200 nits :o and 1280x800. Much screen, such bright.

Congratulations on the find. These 4-cells are unobtanium in any working state, even if it only holds 27% of the original capacity.

My oldest original Thinkpad battery is my T42 6-cell from 2005. I think it barely holds 10% of the original capacity. Gauge shows even less, than that, but then it takes it a really long time to die after hitting 0%.
