change R60 LCD display - compatibility questio
change R60 LCD display - compatibility questio
Hello I need to change sxga display in my 15" R60, as currently used is dying. After searching for some informations about thinkpad screens I'm confused. Thinkwiki mentions that R60 has LG-Philips LP150E07, but I'm unable to find such screen. Thus I'm wondering if LP150E05 (probably LP150E05-A2K1) from T60 or N150P3-L01 from T43 will work w/o problems. I've found that changing displays may nequire to flash the EDID, but I have no idea how could I do it, and where to find needed firmwares.
Could anyone enlighten me in this matter ?

I believe T60 series displays will already have the necessary EDIDs. T43 displays may or may not.

Re: change R60 LCD display - compatibility questio
Welcome to the forum. The R60 will support any and all panels from similar sized R60's or T60's. Some late model T43's may have the EDID chip/info, but it is not definite. Unless you want to learn about programming LCD EDID chips or risk buying a panel with out the EDID chip, your best bet is sticking with a panel from an R60 or T60.
You can use the IPS Flexview panels that were found in T60 models.

Ohhh thanks for valuable info, and a warm welcome.
Your replies lead me to draw a conclusion, that - according to thinkwiki - if T43's display was relatively new, then LG-Philips LP150E05-A2K1 (used in T42, T43, T60) along with HV150P01-100 should work, while N150P3-L01 for R50, R51, T42, T43 would be risky.
ok, now I'm a bit wiser

Re: change R60 LCD display - compatibility questio
From experience, I have found one or two panels with EDID chips in T43 machines. However, I really have no way of knowing if those panels were original or replacements, since I did not own the T43's from new. While I agree with your logic (and glass half-full outlook), I'm not sure it's worth the risk, unless you already happen to have a late model T43 parts machine on hand.

Well, considering all pros and cons it's not worth the risk.
I found an used LP150E05A2K1 from T60 for reasonable price, and I'll probably buy it.
Thanx once more for replies.
edit: ohh wait a second
I got a reply fro a seller of T43 parts and he has an LP150E05A2 display.

Will it be worth trying ?
But looking at those descriptions

LP150E05A2 seems to be a generic LG display
