[R61] Cannot set external Monitor as primary Monitor anymore

Hello everyone,

I am having a bit of trouble with my thinkpad R61 which runs windows xp sp3: Since a few weeks ago, i cannot set my external monitor or a beamer as the primary monitor. I am still able to use those as extensions to the notebook display, though. But whenever I try to set anything but the notebook-display as primary, the monitor in question is just being turned off. About the same time when this first occured, the little blue gma-icon has decided to leave my systemtray and magically disappeared from any menus. I did not install or uninstall any drivers on this machine for about a year and I am the only one using it. I am puzzled about what happened and even more about how to fix it.
Uninstalling and then Reinstalling the driver from the lenovo page didn't fix the problem and intel drivers aren't supported.

Sorry for bumping my thread.
The problem's still occuring and I have no idea how to fix it. As I regularly use my notebook in presentation with a beamer, this is a major inconvenience. Any idea on how to get the gma icon back into my systemtray would be greatly appreciated!
