R61e adapter or something else = dead laptop?

#1 Post by dwilsonfl » Sat Jan 28, 2012 6:12 pm

Finally got around to starting to install an OS on the R61e a forum member gave me for my kids at school. Decided I'd just throw Ubuntu on it and get up and running. Didn't have either of my T60 adapters handy, but the battery was good so put the CD in and went through the prompts. Went outside for a little while and came back to a laptop where every light was black. Said the obligatory words and kicked myself for not getting the adapter.

Got it, plugged it in and no lights came on. Ruh oh.

Pushed the button and nothing. Tried both adapters and still nothing. Both are 90w 20V.

What the heck happened? And is there anything I can do to fix it?

went back and found a post from realblackstuff about a T60 with issues and did a reset. Worked.

This forum has saved my bacon again.

Thank you
