Think Vantage apps corrupted

#1 Post by mbient » Mon Apr 02, 2012 12:15 pm

Was doing a System Update when XP burped. Had to reboot and found that Access Connections utility would not connect to Internet - can still connect via Windows.

Tried the System Update again, did not find any update for AC - it showed the recent update for AC in the Updates Installed window, as well as all of the other updates I was installing when XP burped.

I tried to install one of the recommended updates - Easy Eject - that I had not installed previously, but System Update could not install it. Guess System Update is also corrupted. perhaps other TV apps as well.

How does one go about re-installing these TV apps? Can I install over the old and get it working, or do I have to uninstall each one, download the app and physically reinstall each one.

OR, can I re-install System Update, uninstall the others and let System Update find and install the apps?

OR, is there a better alternative to TV's Access Connections?

My suggestion would be to manually re-install each ThinkVantage app that is corrupted (including System Update). If that doesn't work, than you'll probably will need to restore the hard drive to its factory-installed state (especially if there are other non-TV apps that are corrupted). I had a similar experience to yours recently and I had to just that (I'm using XP as well).

You can try that as well.

You can always use the Windows one. I personally prefer Access Connections, as I think its the better one (but that's just me).
