Wireless upgrade from "b" to "g"
Wireless upgrade from "b" to "g"
Can anyone tell me, which mini pci card can be used to ugrade from 'b' (11 Mbits) to 'g' (54 Mbits). I have tryed the "b/g mini pci card" and received the message from bios 'Bios Lock, unsupported card".

we have beaten this one to death i fear.
There should be a utility. no1802.exe that will fool your bios into accepting the card.

FYI-
You have to run this once from a DOS prompt after booting from a floppy (or DOS CD/USB memory stick).
Nothing seems to happen - nothing shows on the screen after executing the program, but it does work.
I used the utility for my R40 with an Atheros/IBM b/g adapter. It still works perfectly.

One more note, with the generic Intel card, the WiFi LED and the on-screen utility (Fn-F5) may not work.

I have not tried this - but it seems more software related - so editing the files and putting in the PCI ID seems like a good solution.
