R51, can't eject disk drive

So, I have a few optical drives (and soon a hdd) for my R51 UltraBay Enhanced bay... And it supposed to be hot swappable, right?
However, it doesn't seem to be. I can go to the safely remove hardware under XP, and the disk drive is safely removed, but if I actually remove the device, my machine beeps and beeps, and won't stop unless I reinsert the device..

Is this how it is supposed to function?
