Have you tried pushing down on the lower keyboard and/or touchpad area while booting? I've seen similar symptoms on T4x and R5x machines that have a loose GPU. If this lets the machine boot, you'll have identified the problem.

Not likely at all.

Has your LCD been reddish/pinkish on initial boot prior to this last episode?

it sounds like your gpu's taking a dive, or maybe a cpu overheat because of fan not working.
Either way it looks like a bad motherboard. Thankfully I've been looking at ebay, and they seem to have had a significant price drop in the past year or so.

You don't seem to be the most tech oriented in the world, but good thing is there are many guides to disassemble them online.
Current: -R60 14" T-9945, R40 15" T-2897, 600 13.3" T-2645-45U-
Previous: -R40 15" T-2897, R40 P4-M 14", R50 14" T-1859, E425 T-1198-
