A20p hard drive upgrade

#1 Post by Bill » Wed May 05, 2004 6:36 pm

Can the A20p hard drive be upgraded to a 60GB 5400rpm drive?

I've talk to a few computer retailers who think that the A20p might be limited to 30GB drives because it is so old. If this is the case, is there a bios update that will allow the A20p to use the larger-capacity, modern drives?

If anyone has any experience upgrading their A20p hard drive, I'd greatly appreciate your insight.

The A20p is built on the same Intel 440BX chipset as the 600 series, the 770 series, the T21, the T22 and many other Thinkpads, none of which have any difficult in accessing any HD up to and including the latest 80GB to my certain knowledge.

Just be sure you have the latest BIOS installed and I sincerely doubt you'll have any difficulties with the upgrade.

Regards,

James
