I have a BIOS modded "no 2010" BIOS by TTAV which lets me place just about any HDD in the laptop.
Recently I purchased a Transcend TS64GPSD320 PATA SSD HDD to replace the 5400 rpm I have now but it always will BSOD on install after a clone, or if installing win7 from scratch it won't see the drive at all.
It is seen in BIOS. I know this laptop has a SATA to PATA bridge, not sure if that affects it somehow. Any feedback as to why this is happening or how to fix it. When attempting to put XP on here it only see's 4GB of the drive. I also tried to align it to 1024K to optimize manually for win7 but still didn't go.
I know the drive works because it works fine in other PC's.
It's something about the R52 and this specific model or SSD in general? has anyone successfully gotten any SSD brand or model to work in their R52?
I am thinking of trying Kingspec but I don't want to waste money experimenting on an old laptop.
R52 and PATA SSD will BSOD or not be seen at all
