Z61t screen replacement

#1 Post by sonett » Wed Oct 10, 2012 5:36 pm

My z61t screen (HT141WX1-102) has failed to work. I have tried an inverter upgrade with no success so I think it is time for a display replacement. The screen size is 14.1” with 1280x800 resolution.

I know I could buy the same display again, but can I upgrade to a 1440x900 (Samsung: LTN141WD-L05, LG: LP141WP1-TLB8, information from the thinkwiki TFT display page) display without changing anything else (keep the same inverter, front bezel..)?

Any experiences? There was another post on this forum which made me concerned about this type of upgrade, but I could not understand the problem.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Yes you can upgrade to 1440x900...you're coming from a 1280x800 screen, which is a 14.1"

If your machine were one of 1280x768 units - which are 14.0 - you'd be stuck with the given resolution.

For people with the same problem I would like to add that I ended up buying and installing a LP141WP1-TLB8 (1440x900) unit which solved the problem.

The screen is really a nice improvement over the 1280x800 screen I used to have, both in terms of resolution and picture quality.
