Thanks again
Thanks again
As I said in the post topic thanks again for all your help. It has been a while since I posted. Following your instructions and MS suggestions SP2 is in a running well after 3 weeks.......The probem I had with IBM update has not been a problem since. Love my little laptop......but still have a lot to learn. At some point I would like to work on the slow start up and shutdown. I figure MS and IBM has a bunch of needless stuff loaded on start up.
Thanks in advance for any help.....Larry

word of advice.
Slow startup and shutdown are:
1. Too many services running.
2. Uneeded startup programs configured.
So go to control panel -> administrative tools -> services and look around to see what you can turn to "startup manually".
Start-> Run -> "msconfig" and go to startup and uncheck what you don't absolutely need. On the next reboot checkmark "don't show that diagnostic boot warning".
and you'll be amazed how it speeds up the shutdown and bootup. Also run windoctor from norton to fix registry errors (and speed disk as well) and you should be good!
