r50e cpu upgrade

Hello,
I have got Thinkpad r50e with celeron m 340 inside. I try to upgrade it to pentium 745 sl7en but r50e wont boot. Fan is working, pover led is on but screen is black. On old cpu is working fine. Have you got any sugestion how to fix it?

It sounds like you're running into a roadblock with the BIOS. It might not be updated, or even made at all to support that processor. However that's just my best guess- best to wait until someone who's actually messed with these particular machines.

If you do know for a fact that the computer will take this processor, then my best guess is that you need a BIOS update, or modded BIOS.
Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...

I think that I have got latest bios on it. I download bios update utility from lenovo web site. But when I start it I have got a massage that the bios not need to be updated. Where I can find moded bios?

There's no modded BIOS for R50e.

Have you tried that PM CPU in another machine, just in case?
