R51 blank screen, still with new intel graphics motherboard

Hello,

I have an R51, which suddenly wouldn't boot up. Blanks screen, power and battery icon (I think) would illuminate, but nothing would happen, no blacklight, no beeps, nothing.

I thought it might be the ATI GPU solder issue, so I ordered a new intel motherboard from ebay.

After installation, same exact problem!! I don't get it...

I happened to have a parted out r51, so I tried it's screen, it's inverter, replaced the LCD cable, tried a different CPU.

I just don't understand. I guess it's possible I got a bad new motherboard. But it's suprising it would have the same exact symptoms.

Any suggestions?

Remove both battery and charger.
Press and hold down the power button for ca. 20 seconds, which constitutes a hard reset.
Attach only the charger and try to boot.
If it now boots, you probably got a bad battery.

Thanks for the tip. I tried your suggestion several times, even pulled the backup battery and tried it. Sadly it didn't work. I guess I just got a bad replacement motherboard (or damaged it during the install.) Just ordered another so hopefully that will work!
