A31: "ThinkPad Configuration" Utility (TP98.exe)

#1 Post by Mike O'Hanlon » Tue May 03, 2005 10:52 am

Hi Folks,

I have just noticed that my ThinkPad Configuration utility is no longer working.

If I select Programs -> ThinkPad -> ThinkPad Configuration (or double-click the Tray icon), I get an egg-timer for a second or so but nothing else.

If I single-click the Tray icon, and then select Launch Configuration Profille Wizard, I get: "Unable to instantiate ... Configuration Profile Wizard cannot run wthout CfgCtrl.dll and its required components". Yet the CfgCtrl dll is definitely in the Program Files\ThinkPad\Utilities folder.

The computer has obviously been in this state for a while, because my system backup (on a separate hard drive) has the same problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks James, but from what?

I don't recognise anything in the IBMTools folder as looking like an Install/Setup for TP98.exe

Get it from here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4ZFRG3

or just run the AutoUpdater: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... OFT-UPDATE
