Start Up freezes after ZA Update and Number lock not working

Two problems here if anyone can help please...

Don't think I've changed anything...in fact I'm sure I haven't but the NumLk and ScrLk key has stopped working ...icon at the bottom of screen doesn't light up anymore...

Any-one else ever have this happen and know how to fix it...

I've searched the web but can only find how to enable the bios to have the lock on at each start up...only use it occasionally so just need it back to normal...

Been having start up problems since updating ZA...keep having to restore back to a previous date...I then get a a prompt about ZA update and if I go ahead with it after restarting I get the message that Windows cannot start normally and the screen freezes...have to use restore.

I obviously need to update the firewall so is there anything I can do without having to resort to reinstalling the system.
