R40.....a series of 4 short beeps 4 times

Im trying to help out a friend, he has the Thinkpad R40

during post we get a series of 4 short beeps 4 times and a blank screen...
not sure what it is, maybe something to do with the imbeded seceurity thing?? And ideas would be great

yea thats kinda were I was stuck....

this is what the beeps turn out to mean... System board. (IBM security chip)
Is that something that can be fixed with out replacing the motherboard?

It sounds to me that the security chip may need to be re-seated and/or replaced. I do not have any experience in this manner and maybe someone else can jump in at this moment and help out.

The more I read page 57, the more I think that the Security chip may need to be replaced.
