Does A31 bottom case fit A31p?

#1 Post by PuuFa » Mon Mar 18, 2013 4:22 pm

I'm trying to find a bottom case for my A31p to replace the old cracked one but I can only find non-p parts. So I'm wondering if they might be interchangeable.

The part number appears to be the same and the piece where the firewire connector comes out is changeable so it shouldn't be a problem but I would have to find out if the hole for the video-in connector can be opened nicely, does anyone know?

Of course if someone has a suitable bottom case for sale I'd be happy to buy it from you. I've posted on the marketplace but so far no luck.

I have both an A31 and an A31p here, and I don't see any difference in the bottom cases. I also have an A30p, and it appears to be exactly the same as well.

Yes, for the most part they seem to be identical but the only part I'm not sure of is the S-video in connector which is blocked in A31. It would have to be opened for the A31p board so I need to know if it's possible to do without drilling etc...

Ah, I see. All three of mine are identical. They all have both S-Video In & Out connectors.

I don't have an A31 here, but am pretty sure you'll have to drill...

Too bad that shipping an A31p base from U.S. to Finland would be absolutely cost-prohibitive...

That's unfortunate. I was hoping it'd be blocked by a removable piece of plastic just like the piece where the firewire connector is.

These p-models appear to be quite rare in Europe so I guess I don't have much choice other than buying from U.S. if the regular non-p base won't fit.
