R52 Ultrabay Lever question

#1 Post by BeeJayEmm » Wed Apr 10, 2013 10:58 am

Hi all,
I have an R52, type 1849-4WU. The Ultrabay Enhanced pull lever (not the release switch) is loose because one of its little metal guides snapped off. This is causing some problems with hibernating and the computer thinking I want to eject the Ultrabay adapter holding my SATA hard drive  . After viewing the HMM, am I correct in thinking that the lever/guides assembly is part of the base cover and the only way to fix the issue is to replace said base cover? Thanks as always for any help you can give.

Yeah, pretty much, you might be able fix it, but would have to remove the keyboard, palm rest and optical drive cage to get at the mechanism, so might as well have a replacement base ready just in case you need parts.

I may have a spare base around here somewhere...send me a PM if interested.
