DVD problems?

#1 Post by a31pguy » Fri May 06, 2005 2:23 pm

I have the M a t s u s h i t a UJ-810b multiburner ultrabay 2000 drive (but the drive label says panasonic industrial - korea?) and I have always had problems writing to DVD-Rs. The drive works wonders with CD-R and CD-RW but I have not been able to burn even one DVD-R. It fails in both ROXIO classic creator and IBM Record now.

IBM Record now gives:

Disc Read Error - Sense:03 ASC:73 ASCQ:03 (Command:2A)
--------------------------------------------------
Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-810 (E:) ATAPI (C104)
PX.DLL - 1.6.14.507
PXMAS.DLL - 1.6.14.507
PXWAVE.DLL - 1.6.14.507
OLEAUT32.DLL - 5.1.2600.2180
MSVBVM60.DLL - 6.0.97.82
MSCOMCTL.OCX - 6.1.95.45
MSCOMCT2.OCX - 6.0.88.4
PXHelp20.SYS - 2.2.62.0

and Roxio gives:

E80041882: Disc error - power calibration area error - [03/73/03]
E80041934: TrackWriter error - Flush failed - [T7127]
E80041925: TrackWriter error - Command retry failed - [T7118]

any ideas? Firmware problem?

Sounds like a bad drive to me, tho you've nothing to lose by seeking the latest firmware and trying a couple of different brands of media. But my money's on bad drive.

You can see if any of these firmwares are compatible and if they will help your DVD burner out.

It seemed the IBM DLA software was the problem. Removed DLA and the drive burns DVD-Rs perfectly.
