I recently moved to Windows 7 on my old faithful R50e. I re-loaded various drivers from the Lenovo download site and all went well. However, there doesn't seem to be a version of Access Connections for the R50e running Win 7. I see there's a version 6.21 on the site but the R50e isn't in the list of supported units.
I always liked Access Connections and would love to have it back but don't want to break anything by downloading a version that doesn't specify my machine. If anyone knows whether it'll work or not, I'd greatly appreciate the information.
Many thanks in advance.

Access Connections on R50e running Win 7?
Re: Access Connections on R50e running Win 7?
John:
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on the T42p that I am typing this on, and I've successfully installed Access Connections ver. 5.84 although this T42p is not on the supported list. Because of this, I suggest you also try ver. 5.84; you will find the at the bottom of this page. In order to run Access Connections (ver. 5.84) you will also need the following drivers (which I am all using/running on this T42p as well):
Lenovo Power Management Driver ver. 1.67.04 (you will find the at this page),
OnScreen Display ver. 6.42 (you will find the at the bottom of this page),
Lenovo System Interface Driver ver. 1.05 (it is included in the above),
ThinkPad Wireless LAN Adapters Software (11a/b/g/n) ver. 7.7.0.4.498b (you will find it at this page) [notice that I am using an Atheros "IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II" adapter],
Note that I was only able to get Fn+F5 to switch on/off the wireless radio if using the "IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II" and not the (older) "non-II" ... see this post.
If you are uncertain if the above will work or not, then I suggest you make a (Windows) System Restore Point prior to messing with all of this - then, if something goes wrong, you can easily revert to the old, known-good configuration, and voila you're back in business (albeit with the old configuration) again!
By the way, sorry for this somewhat late reply; I don't often visit this sub-forum...
PS: Have you ever considered upgrading your R50e with a fast SSD? If not, see the sticky GUIDE: Make your T4x *FAST* by replacing the HDD with a SSD!
