R51 LCD connector pinouts

#1 Post by steerg » Fri Jul 11, 2014 2:57 am

It's a long shot but ...

I still have the LCD screen from my long defunct R51P and being a 1600x1200 screen, I'd like to use it for other purposes.
Is there a pinout diagram for the LCD/MB connector or a circuit diagram for the motherboard?
Any information about the connector used would be handy too.

Regards
Geoff

Welcome to the forum.
That screen would fit in/on any other 15" T41/T42/T43/R50/R51/R52.
You would need either its original UXGA LCD-cable, or the matching UXGA LCD-cable for those models.
This cable-info can be found in all the HMMs, download from here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail. ... MIGR-39298

It's almost certainly an IDTech N150U3-L6 screen, datasheet here: http://beyondinfinite.com/lcd/Library/I ... U3-L06.pdf

It will probably also work on newer machines, like 15" non-widescreen T60 and R60, provided your screen has an EDID-chip.
T60/R60 need their own LCD cable (see HMM).

Thanks for the info. I wish I'd found that service manual when my R51 (I think) was still working!

The LCD info returned a PDF with 30 blank pages - perhaps a font thing. I'll dig a bit deeper on that site.
EDIT: Forund a copy at: http://chaosweb.complex.eng.hokudai.ac. ... U3-L06.pdf

Still looking for the pinout so I can use this on another project (Raspberry Pi/3D printer)

Pinout is on page 10 in the PDF. (5.2 Interface Signal Connector)

Sorry, I meant the pinout of the motherboard connector of the R51 into which the LCD cable plugs.
This would let me use the LEDs on the inverter module.

Perhaps I shoudl just settle for a HDMI-LVDS converter and use just the panel. I'd also have to get an inverter as the pinout of the one supplied is unknown.

Thanks once again.
This diagram seems to cover all the required signals and cross referencing it with the N150U3-L06 digram, I might be able to sort something out.
Just need to track down the connector itself. The ID on the circuit diagram leads me in circles so I do some searching throught the Tyco connector database.

Geoff
