Lower right mouse button stopped functioning

#1 Post by rohit » Mon May 23, 2005 12:36 pm

I have Thinkpad R-50 laptop.A strange problem has started. The keyboard left and right click buttons(those with red marks)work just fine but the right click button below the touchpad(black colored) has stopped responding.I have already run PC Doctor in save mode and it showed that the right click lower button always remained in 'OFF' status. When I enabled click sound, all the buttons made sound except the lower right click button.Am I to replace anything?Unistalling/reinstalling the driver or OS didn't help.
Please help.

Hello,
You could remove the keyboard bezel, and use some electrical cleaner to spray onto the microswitch...which might help in getting it to work again, if it is the contacts.

Best idea is to rather order a new keyboard bezel from your IBM Service Parts Supplier, it comes with the trackpad, and is cheap.

I recently dropped my laptop, and obtained all cracked/broken cosmetic parts and fixed it this way.

Keep us posted, and, an added tip, d/l the pdf manual for your model from ibm's website, it will show you the exact steps how to remove and replace specific FRU's.

Br,
MrBean.
