ThinkPad R40e - dead battery...time to upgrade?

#1 Post by ADD » Mon May 23, 2005 4:09 pm

Hi all,

I have ThinkPad R40e which is now about 20 months old. I had a new battery under warranty after it let go after 10 months. Now the same thing has happen again but this time I will have to spend £130+ on a new battery.
So I thinking about upgrading my ThinkPad to a T42(always wanted a T series but didn't as I got my R40e at an bargain price) or X41 which has better battery life than my maximum of just over 2hours on a new battery. Plus all the other improvements.

Only want to spend a maximum of =>£1000. Where could I buy a new T42 (with Biometrics) at a bargain price?

How much is my R40e worth?

Thanks to all who help.

You could probably get $500 or so for your R40e (a very rough guess). If you're interested in a T42, Bill, the admin of this board, could probably get you a good price.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!
