Drivers for the A22m

#1 Post by vasco » Sun Sep 21, 2014 5:10 pm

Hi,

A friend asked me if I can revive an old, old IBM Thinkpad A22m (2628-X1G) so she could used it to play DVD disks for her grandchildren (yes, that old).

The system is in good shape, both batteries are busted of course but the power supply is in perfect condition. It only have 384 Mb RAM but I already sent for a 256 Mb chip in order to bring it to 512 Mb. Unfortunately any Drivers and/or OS CD have been lost.

I failed to install Windows 98 SE but Windows XP installed ok, all would have been a success if the not by the fact that every DVD player that I tried was unable to play a movie full screen without pausing every 3 or 4 seconds. Maybe the additional RAM will solve the problem, but I suspect that it may be the graphics driver.

It's is using ATI RAGE Mobility (IBM) driver from Microsoft, so I've been looking for that driver from ATI (AMD) or IBM, I haven't been able to find it, so, I'm asking for help here.

I already left negative feedback at lenovo site, it's absurd not to provide drivers for the older systems, after all these are IBM machines from a time when they were built to last.

Home that someone can point me to a place to download the drivers, thanks in advance

You're the best. Thank you very much.

The driver worked perfectly at 1024x768 (16 bit color).
