Recovery problems, cdrw/dvd problems too

#1 Post by suzyq67 » Tue May 24, 2005 6:45 pm

I have lost the use of the blue access ibm key...now i have followed the instructions and have accessed rescue and recovery but it says that the "IBM Product Recovery function has been removed from this system". I didnt remove this...sooo what do i do now?

I have a r40 the cdrw/dvd is acknowledged by windows..but it continually tells me that no cd is in drive. It worked once for me and i watched a movie..but not sure how i got it to work. When i reset the computer back to factory settings it quit working again. Of course this took place before the above problem.... Any suggestions?

Sounds like you need to download and reinstall the IBM Rescue &Recovery from the IBM site - as well as the latest cdrw/dvd driver

I had to do all kinds of reinstalls on my R40 to get it working reasonably well - but I'm no expert so maybe there's another reason...?

I tried that...downloade the recovery program and installed it. It goes to the rescue and recovery and then said that the IBM recovery is not installed. Dammit it i just want the blue button to work so that i can reinstall the factory stuff.
