Badges on TiLid Thinkpads

#1 Post by FryPpy » Wed Apr 29, 2015 8:55 am

I have Z61t with Ti Lid in reconstruction now. This is common Z61t with balds on it head (Lid). I have decided to replace lid completely. Have got NOS Ti Lid + Ribbon cable with 2x microphones and WebCam connector + webcam + bezel + fingerprint on palmrest. I have T7600 from old times and think it is time to use it. Have got HSF with 2 heatpipes for this CPU (originally it have T2400 and HSF with single heatpipe). This will make my ThinkPad maxed out only without WWAN :(
But the question in other thing. Original TiLid have silver "IBM Thinkpad" badge. And new (NOS) have Lenovo styled black"Thinkpad Z61" badge.
So historically how many TiLid Z61t Thinkpads have black badges?

PS
AFAIC i complete my reconstruction i'll post a couple of photos with the name of "Clash of titans";)

Early Z61 units had "IBM Thinkpad" stickers. Later units had "Thinkpad Z61" stickers. I think that most Core Duo units had the IBM, and most Core 2 Duo units had the Thinkpad, but it is not a 100% correspondence. Of course the stickers are interchangeable, as you know.

I've never owned a Ti system with a ThinkPad logo, IBM only.

Having said that, I'm certain that they have existed but were likely far less common.
