R52 with Slic-BIOS will not activate W7

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Sat Jun 06, 2015 4:03 am

I have done many SATA-mods and loaded the TTAV134-BIOS on various T43 and T43p machines.
That BIOS (v1.29) has Slic2.1, and the no-1802/no-2010 errors gone. EC is 1.06.
Afterwards I always use a test-HD with 32-bit W7 Pro, made with Lenovo Recovery CDs from a T410.
Every single T43/T43p will always activate W7 using the above test-HD.
When tested with SLIC Toolkit v3.2, the T43 SLIC dump says:
Dump OK! (LENOVOTP-7U_V2.1)

I just did a SATA-mod on an R52 (1849-4WU with ATI graphics).
Then I applied the appropriate TTAV134 BIOS for R52 with ATI.
But whatever I do, the above test-HD with W7 Pro refuses to activate.
I even installed a fresh W7-Pro. No dice!
When tested with SLIC Toolkit v3.2, the R52 SLIC dump says:
Dump OK! (But SLIC OEM ID or Digital Signature error!)

When I do a file-compare of those dumps, they are identical, so where is the problem?
Anyone ever manage to get W7 activated on an (ATI-)R52 with TTAV134's Slic BIOS?

Problem solved!

I installed the TTAV134-BIOS for T43/T43p with ATI graphics on this R52 (T43p-1YET65WW_SLIC2.1_no_1802_no_2010.iso).
Now W7-Pro from the test-HD activated itself!

Does 1394/Firewire still work?
No idea and doesn't interest me either.
Don't know anybody with Fireware equipment.

A quick check of the device manager will tell you if the firewire is active. If it is not listed, Windows didn't find it.
Currently using: A W500, a W520, an X201T, an X220T, an X61T, a 14" T60P,a 15" UXGA T60P and a W700.
Currently idle: A spare W500, a spare X61T, a spare W700, a 14" T61, a 15" SXGA+ T60, a 14" T60, and my first Thinkpad, a 770X.

I posted about bios update problem and windows 7 cannot activate and also tried another modified bios as suggested by yours works now for activation. Mine is R52, type 1849-4WU.

I'll do a update on bios issue stopping at hex E column for erase/write thread.

Cheers, thinkpadcollection
