Can I Use A PS3 HD As A Larger Replacement In My R60e?

#1 Post by jimwg » Mon Jun 29, 2015 7:48 am

Greetings!

I just came into possession of a model cech-2501A PlayStation3 that's about to be junked, it's 160GB Toshiba HDD2H85 MK1665GSX hard drive is still healthy and which I'd like to replace the 60GB TOSHIBA MK6034GSX in my trusty and rugged R60e. Folks on PS3 forums assert -- sight and proof unseen -- that the 160GB's pin and slot interface is different from Thinkpad HDs. Is this compatible? Any sage advice welcome before I get my screwdriver to work!

Thanks!

That's a regular 2.5" SATA drive, same as other HDs, so will fit in your R60e.

On many of my stored machines that are not everyday drivers I have Seagate 20 gig drives from various game boxes, I have paid as little as $2.00 plus shipping for them, never had an issue after formatting.

On my desktop box I wound up with two 160 gig drives from Time Warner digital boxes.
