can't warm swap a 2nd HDD in ultrabay

#1 Post by jack NYC » Thu Jun 02, 2005 1:12 pm

I'm not sure if i have some software locking it up or if its a hardware issue. If I try to warm swap my 2nd HDD in my ultrabay all i get is the message that it can't be stopped right now and I should try again later. No problem stopping the CD drive to warm swap it.
Thanks
Jack

some software locking it up
that's it. something is using the drive. try a suspend and remove - that works too.

I'm unfamiliar with suspend and remove. All i've ever attempted is what the directions say about releasing the handle the waiting for the machine to go into standby. I've tried right clicking and stopping the drive but that doesnt work either. Do you mean Hibernate? same as suspend?

try fn-f4 to suspend or "stand-by" - i just noticed that pulling the handle does the same thing except that it tries to give that error message. After fn-f4 - then eject the drive - but wait for the standby light to come on - insert the drive and push the "fn" key to resume.
