R52 Win7 Audio Issues

#1 Post by whizzer » Thu Aug 06, 2015 9:15 pm

Working on an R52 for my grandson. Installed windows 7, went ok except for the Audio.
It had a very strong audio under XP, but the Microsoft & vista drivers, it produces :( :( very weak sound
even with volume turned up high. Does anyone know of a driver that works with Windows 7??
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

You need the XP driver, installed in the compatibility mode. Driver link at the top of the page should get you there.

Good luck.

On my T43-1872 there are buttons in the upper left corner of the keyboard to raise, lower, and mute the volume. Try maxing out the volume with the up arrow button.

Windows update will find audio driver 5.12.1.5450 and install it. In my case recording from the mic input would not work so I tried to install 5.12.1.5300 in XP compatibility mode but got an error after both installation attempts. I let Windows Update reinstall 5.12.1.5450 again and recording started working. The sound level is adequately loud in playback if I set the volume slider and audio buttons on the keyboard for high output.
