R52 Volume Controls HotKey newest version 2014

#1 Post by miked1960 » Sun Sep 13, 2015 6:41 pm

I did a clean install of windows 7 everything seems to work but my +/- volume buttons and mute.
I tried to install the new hotkey it only goes so far when it asks me do I want to install it tells me wrong version for my system? It shows it's for R52 plus many others. I thought maybe the software would be in there>>>>
Does anyone have any ideas to get them working?

Windows 7 has slowly installed all other drivers ok

Do you have the Power Manager installed?

Hmm...you might just have to hunt for older versions of both PM and Hotkeys, and mix and match.

I'll post the versions known to work on T43 - which is R52's nearest cousin - in a few hours when I get a chance.

Stay tuned.

When I installed Windows 7 on my T43 I noted that as of 4/14/2013 the latest hotkey driver that works on a T43 is
8jvu23ww, package version 3.81.0100, November 1, 2012. There were two newer hotkey drivers at that time and both failed. For Power Management I used geku18ww, version 1.66.0.22, January 18, 2013.

Ok thank you.

I was looking for some recovery disks with win 7 on it could not find any online I know r52 only came with XP only a few win 7-10 updates. Was the T43 a newer version of the r52?

The other thing I noticed was that the SoundMax drivers are limited maybe up to that last year of production they never had any win 7 drivers support I don't know if another driver would work with win 7 drivers. The bios is unlocked on mine and the HDD is a sata drive I had it converted back to sata from the jimmy rigged Pata drive they slapped on it.

I had updated my SL410 with that new Hotkey driver when I upgraded it to win 8 my Fn+5 key doesn't work I had to find the app and placed a shortcut on the desktop so I could turn it on or off.

Windows Update will find this audio driver for Windows 7: Audio – (SoundMAX Drivers) (5.12.1.5450 10/10/2006). You can also download it manually from Microsoft's catalog update site. You must use Internet Explorer to navigate the site. The link is below.

If Intel(R) 82801FBM LPC Interface Controller - 2641 shows as unknown, use
the following procedure to correct the problem. The drivers for this device
are included within the Windows 7 installation already, you just need to
browse for them. Right click on the device, and go to Properties. Go to the
Driver tab, and click on Update Driver. Click on the "Browse my computer for
driver software" option, then let me pick from a list of device drivers.
Click on the show all devices option, and then select Intel from the
Manufacturer side. In the right hand side (Model) scroll down until you find
your Model, Intel(R) 82801FBM LPC Interface Controller - 2641.(Note the (R)
on Intel). Click on Next and if a window pops up saying the driver is not
compatible, ignore the warning and click Yes to override the warning. The
correct Windows 7 driver will be installed without any additional downloads.
Check in Device Manager to confirm that the unknown device no longer
appears. Expand the System devices heading in Device Manager and confirm that
two entries exist for Intel(R) 82801FBM LPC Interface Controller - 2641.

The link I posted for the audio driver works here. In Microsoft's catalog update site you can search for 5.12.1.5450 and it should come up. Alternatively let Windows Update find it for you.

thank you that work for the controller. Windows had already updated the audio.

so I noticed in control panel I have 3 PM listed
IBM Thinkpad PM ver. 1.01
Lenovo PM 6.67.5
Lenovo PM 1.67310.20

thinkpad ultra nav drive 16.2.19.14
thinkpad ultra nav utility 2.13.0

How do you uninstall the hotkeys? I do not see uninstall in the folders they do not show up in control panel. I hit the setup in the hotkey folder the 2014 version says this program does not support this system. Odd it says this in the readme says it supports R52 and many many other older laptops.

The Hotkey Features Integration package contains the following sub packages;

<On Screen Display>
This program displays the result of the using of function keys on the desktop
screen. This program also provides some enhancements of the function keys.
For example, whenever changes system speaker volume, this program displays
volume indicator on the desktop screen.

<FullScreen Magnifier>
This program provides two functions. The one helps your presentation to
display a document on the projector. The another one magnifies the desktop
screen. When the extended desktop is enabled, the former one works. Otherwise,
the later one works.

<System Interface Driver>
This program works as the programming and data interface which is commonly
used for Lenovo drivers, utilities and application programs.

<Display Utility>
This program provides a function to change various settings of the
ThinkPad's internal display. This program is applicable only to several
featurized ThinkPad products. The settings of "Color Temperature", "Color Space",
"Dynamic Contrast" and "Over Drive" are available.

<AutoScroll Utility>
This program provides a function to improve usability for window operation.
Window position of the foreground application is automatically adjusted.

<Lenovo Patch Utility>
If issues happened in the above sub package functions on your computer,
this program would enable to apply suitable fix immediately.

Each of the sub packages has its own version number and the ones that can be uninstalled show up in the control panel separately. You will not find a hotkey features integration package entry in the control panel.

Again, the last version that worked on a T43 is 3.81.0100. Newer versions at least up to 3.86.0000 fail with "this program does not support this system" when attempting to install in a T43. There are evidently files missing from the installation package that cause the problem. See the Lenovo forum at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-L ... 149/page/2 for more details on the experience others have had. The text file that accompanies the newer releases does list the T43 as supported but the installation fails so the text file is incorrect.

I found the hotkey driver you mentioned not this one.... PM geku18ww
I looked on here no links for the file I entered it on support.lenovo no go. I looked under t43 drivers no go. perhaps it's a newer version now they took that one down? If you have the file can email it to me also.

I'll try the hotkey version with the present PM I have see how it goes. Is it normal to have the 3 listed in the control panel like that?

Thank YOu
Mike
