R52 x300-GPU and questions. For old game stuff.

How the R52 GPU x300 64MB stacks up to the ati mobility 9600 in T42? What about T43p GPU as game?

Reason is, eventually get R52 back and upgrade motherboard later.

The 9600 and X300 are similar in terms of performance, however the 9600 is AGP bus and the X300 is PCIE so the X300 will likely edge out the 9600 slightly. The T43p's GPU is most similar to an X600, which will be about 50% better performance than the X300.

R52 models probably run a bit cooler than T43 models. X300 gpus actually overclock decently, if you want to get a good performance boost. It certainly made scrolling webpages and PDFs smoother on my T43.

Does this marvell sata to pata bridge chip in R52/T43 motherboards have heatsink solder pad along with solder pads around it for the package as well? I do have decent heat gun to do this and rayon tape.

Once this IC is desoldered from motherboard what is your preferred solder pads to connect sata mod and preferred connectors? I have a possible solution for pesky power + sata connectors to drive.
