A31p Screen Flickering

#1 Post by 600X » Mon Jun 27, 2016 9:39 am

On my A31p, the screen flickers (looks like backlight turning on and off rapidly) whenever there are moving images on the display. It happens all the time while playing a video but not at all while looking at a web page and not scrolling. Does anyone have any ideas? Screen itself is in immaculate condition and the CCFL is still very bright.

Maybe a long shot, but as these machines have an advanced age, the LCD-cable connector into the LCD might have gotten a bit oxidized.
When people send me LCD-cables for a T60 LED-mod, in 8 out of 10 cases the gold-contacts on the cable's LCD-end need to be cleaned.
I use an old nylon eraser for that, see this: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=120888

I'd swap the inverter just to take it out of the equation as a possible culprit.

Thanks for the advice. I'll go and hunt for a new inverter and clean the contacts while replacing the inverter.
