Ive got everything setup (wifi card in place, antenna in monitor)
And my question is. Is this going to work? I mean, the cable is fine (connects), the wifi card is 100% good (froma working laptop). The problem is that didnt have any cable in the monitor for blueatooth (it was an only WIFI card before), there so i ripped out one of the WIFI antennas from a different laptop (emachines, picture 1) and pakced it into the monitor. Will this antenna be good for bluetooth (it was a wifi antenna)?

The majority of Thinkpads have a BIOS whitelist that prevents the installation of cards from other manufacturers. You need to flash a modified BIOS that removes this whitelist.
Once you've overcome that, if the Wifi part is detected, but not the Bluetooth part, you may need move the card to the WWAN slot. Most Wifi + BT cards contain a USB Bluetooth chip, and only the WWAN slot has USB signal pins connected.

Re: Addig bluetoth to non bluetooth R61i
Ok, sovled I wont have bluetooth. But, i do ahve an upgraded cpu (t7300, before t5250. 2ghz vs 1.5ghz, the FSB on the new one is 800mhz vs 667 previous, and double the cache).
Also upgraded the ram, changed the hinges (were broken :I)
Oh, and the best upgrade. New trackpoitn top!
And this frankenstein is working! Just gotta put it all back up Ill cover you guys with a video (post here)
Oh, and there is only one wlan slot. This is some wierd "R61i" version. Its called 'business". Couldnt find an o ebay, only found the necessary hinges and thats it. Could even find the screen frame, ahd to glue it

yeah i guessed that. Its too much having fun. I need this laptop to just work, and the bluetooth was not necessary. I thought that id just plug it in and itd be fine, but definitely flashing the bios is too much for a not necessary option. Im happy everything is working, thermal paste as so as thermopa is fine (it was my frist time doing this), ram is also good.axur-delmeria wrote:The majority of Thinkpads have a BIOS whitelist that prevents the installation of cards from other manufacturers.
