Does anyone have the elusive G50?
Never seen one, but for who has it, is it a cool machine like the other G-series? How does it compare to a R60/T60?
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Sorry if I was unclear, I meant the IBM(Lenovo?) Thinkpad G50, successor to the Thinkpad G41.RealBlackStuff wrote:IBM G50: a CRT monitor from the past: https://www.cnet.com/products/ibm-g50-c ... ies/specs/

My understanding is that it sports what is essentially an Intel-based T60 board with a G4x power circuit (!!!!!) and an XGA panel. Sold only in the Far East, and for a very limited period of time.

Re: Does anyone have the elusive G50?
The fact that G50 uses the same awkward AC adapter as the G40/41 models is what I'm referring to. Not the 65W/90W units that one would find in this era.Thinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2017 4:20 pmIm not sure either, maybe pumping 70 watts into a Core Duo?fourthree wrote: G4x power circuit? Nah, it used the new 20V PSUs.

It's a dual-core Thinkpad with onboard parallel and PS/2 ports, though!

I stand corrected, then.
Just learned something new once again...It's a dual-core Thinkpad with onboard parallel and PS/2 ports, though!

Re: Does anyone have the elusive G50?
From the link that RBS gave, the G50 appears to have a 2GB max RAM.
That is as limiting as the G40.
So XP may be as far as you can go.
Win7-32bit, maybe ???
RAM: MS specs Win7-32bit at 1GB min RAM.
- So at 2GB, you have 2x the min RAM requirement.
But video ?
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
