Why are the A and R series numbering screwed up?

R30/R40, A30/A31, G40/G50 and Z60/Z61 Series. NOT for AMD-Ryzen.

Why are the A and R series numbering screwed up?

#1 Post by Thinkpad4by3 » Mon Jul 17, 2017 3:37 pm

1: Ok, so there is the T20,X20, and A20. Why is it the R30?

2: If the first digit updates then a new CPU comes out it. The second digit updates when a new revision comes out.
T20:P3
T30:P4M
T40:P4

A20:P3
A30:P3????
A31:P4M???

What were they thinking???

Oh, and that doesnt even count how messed up the 300 series machines are with the 310 coming out 5 years after the 300 and 320. But thats for the Legacy Section
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

That was the first R series which was released pretty much when T2x generation was reaching EOL.

Why do you keep on referring to T4x series as being powered by P4M ? Not a single one ever was.

As to what they were thinking...I'm sure someone around here knows the story behind the numbers game, but I'm not that one.
