R40 Display Issues - LCD Inverter & Backlight

#1 Post by fixMyR40 » Mon Jun 20, 2005 1:26 pm

Hi all,

My LCD screen displayed the common symptoms on backlight failure a couple of weeks ago. I eventually ordered a new backlight from jkllamps.com (may not have been a perfect replacement for my R40 2897-GAU (15")). Anyhow, the lamp didn't light up even after I tried it with a new inverter.

What could be wrong? Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you.

Does the system board still work? Can you get output from the external VGA port?
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

Hi,

Yes. The system board still works. I have been using it connected
to an external monitor without any problems.

What if you pry up just a little on the button that shuts off the screen when you close the machine? Does the backlight come on?

Hey,

Thanks for the note. Unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem.
